Northeast Mountain Run III
Northeast Mountain Run III
Time for the 3rd Semi-Annual Northeast Mountain Run – May 20th, 2007
IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!!
For those of you who went on this trip last year, know how good of a turn out it was and the awesome roads we traveled. This year’s trip will follow a route nearly identical to the first two times we have run the event, with a slight change during the beginning of the trip.
If you have ever dreamed of cruising on that one street, with all the curves and elevation changes you could ever imagine, but never got the chance, here is your chance. Specifically the last sector of "The Run", which is as close to a roller coaster in a car as you can get. All sections leading up to the finale are just a tease, but will certainly get your senses going anyway. S turns, tight winding 180s, it has it all. And Cows, lots of Cows.
“The Run” will depart from the Basketball Hall of Fame, just off Exit 6 on I-91. We will then travel a on the highway a bit before coming to the beginning of the twisties. Once we arrive there (about 15-20 minutes after “The Run” begins), it is all hills and curves for the next hour and a half. If you have never had your Z on roads it was built for, now is your chance. “The Run” will be complete at Stratton Mountain. Here we will have a huge parking lot for Z enthusiasts to talk about their rides, take pictures, etc. Also at Stratton is a few restaurants you can have lunch at before departing for home. The route home provides easy access to I-91 south.
More information regarding routes etc. will be provided as the event nears. We will depart Springfield@ 8 AM promptly. We want to go early to avoid traffic holding us up anywhere along The Run.
If you would like an address to reference where the run begins, you can MapQuest (link) or Google Earth the following:
1000 West Columbus Ave
Springfield, MA 01105
Any questions, feel free to PM me or send me a message via AIM. Email also accepted (rotorite86@yahoo.com).

UPDATED:
Meeting place: Basketball Hall of Fame parking lot across from Max's Tavern (north side). Departure time for the run will still be 8:00 am.
>> Stolen from Speedracers post later in the thread: <<
As the event draws closer and the sign-up begins to fill, I thought I would update everyone on a few items:
1. There was one very tricky turn on the fall drive that got some people lost. That turn has been eliminated from the route. The alternate route is just as much fun.
2. Recognize that if the actual turnout is close the the sign-up number, it will be impossible to stay in one pack -that's okay, as long as people know the route.
3. Route directions will be given out just before the meet, and not before hand.
PS - The raindate, if needed, will be the following Sunday, May 27th. This will be if there is a very good chance of rain -- if we have scattered showers in the forecast it will still be going on. That was the case last year and we only had about 5 miles of rain.

Scootch, do you need to repost the whole message every time?
Count me in BTW. I should have a lot of weight off my car by then.
