Tein Basics Installed

Just curios what others think of their Basics after they installed them. I had Tein springs on before and was happy with them but wanted more of a drop so I installed Basics.

I have to say that I simply cannot stand the way the car feels now, I feel I made a big and expensive mistake. The car rides so rough and every little variance in the road surface is amplified by 50X it seems. The car feels great on the highway and corners beyond belief now. But on average city roads it seems like its just beating the living **** out of the car. car is lowered only an 1" to maybe 1.25".

Anyone else feel this way or do you guys not care about the average road conditions? I really need some advice on where to go from here, Eibach springs back to Tein springs or what.

Both the springs and the shocks are stiffer, its a given that its going to ride significantly rougher. Most people are willing to live with that for the perfomance gains. A better setup for you would have been a coilover with a lower springrate and or progessive springs and adjustable dampers so you can set the comfort level as you please

i love my basics. i dont find them to be that bad at all. you must have some really bad roads where you live. they arent too bad down here in florida. maybe you should get the tein cs kit with edfc. yes it is more expensive but the spring rates are also lower and the dampening is adjustable

I love the Basics over the S-Techs.

Ride was a lil harsh at first, but I don't even notice it now. I don't mind sacrificing comfort for performance.

Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too. In my case, I ate the damn thing.

+1, i couldnt be more happy with my basics. Roads here in so cal arent too bad but i still get my fair share of bumpiness that i live with because you cant beat the performance aspect they give you.

yeah, the roads in Dallas are miserable. On the highway, however, the Basics feel great.

Just made an appointment to get them removed and Im putting the Eibach Prokit on it.

Try the Tein Comfort Spec Coils. You can get them for around $1300-1400 and they should ride much better.

Mine ride nice and smooth? Did you preload them at all to keep from lowering the car too much? That would cause the poor ride quality, but normally it's tough to do that. If that's the case, lowering the car a bit would actually improve the ride quality a lot.

What springs did you have before, h-techs?

Well again, they feel really great on the highway and the occasional smooth road I happen to find. Yes, they were dropped then raised and it improved the quality tremendously. I think it comes down to me making a mistake in what I wanted. I know now I want a smoother ride.

Yes, and the ide quality was perfect, all I really wanted was to drop the car a bit more.

To the OP,

Yes, for me, the ride is definitely much rougher, if you will . . . Especially, when traveling into downtown S.F. everyday. However, it is a trade off that I am willing to live with, when I consider the added handling the Basics afford me.
