Motordyne 5/16 vs Blox 5/8 Spacer before, after dyno runs

Hey guys, i did some before and after runs between the two different spacers. These two dynos were done one after the other so the variables didnot change. I did 3 pulls with the blox 5/8 spacer, and then 3 pulls with the motordyne 5/16 spacer. I changed the spacers while my car was on the dyno so that the results would be as accurate as possible.
The motordyne spacer gained more torque and Hp at all rpm ranges. In the midrange, around 4k, the MD spacer gained about 8lbs of torque over the blox spacer, and around 5000 rpm, the md spacer gained around 9 hp.
I was really amazed to see that the md spacer had better gains in the higher rpm as well. Blox was supposed to be most beneficial in the higher rpms, but the md beat the blox in that area as well.
I gained around 2hp, and 4lbs of torque in terms of peak power.
Overall this was well worth doing a before and after dyno. The midrange power is definetly felt by my butt and dynapack dyno. This was my before/ after dyno, which was performed at Church Automotive, Socal.
I have a 04 g35 sedan. Pics of dyno are attached as well. these are pics taken by my iphone so they are not that clear. i will scan it tommorow, and have better pics tommorow. guys if you pick anyhting out that i didnot mention, please let me know. thanks.

The blue line is a dyno with the blox, and the green/red is with the md spacer on.

i went and bought the blox spacer because of the price and after 6months it cracked and the heat made the top of the plenum bake into the spacer...after that i went and bought the 5/16 from motodyne!

+ 1!

I JUST got around to installing my MD CITPS over the weekend along with the zTube and K&N Air Filter.

Best Mod for the buck for sure. Here where I live (Northside Chicago) we have Lake Shore Drive better known as LSD which has now become my new playground.

All in all, the car pulls so much more around 3-4.5ish RPM I hit 70 MPH really quick where my car would be around 50 MPH. The butt dyno test passed with flying colors for sure.

I need to get to a real dyno so I can crunch the #s. I will say the mod definitely helped.

+1 for Tony for sure

I think I'm going to end up getting some good gas mileage too now and that's always a good thing too.

you're right - it should be in the intake section... it isn’t really about dyno as much as it is about testing two different plenum (intake) spacers.

Henry, it would actually be better suited for anyone looking for this kind of stuff in the intake section.

At least you know your dyno guy is accurate. 10/16" is way bigger than 5/16". Even the 8/16" spacer is considered "thick" in terms of "area under the curve gains"

none none none none sxyrob
I did the same test and noticed that 5/8 skunk2 made slightly more power than the 5/16 motordyne in the high RPMS.

still dont see how its possible for one piece of material that creates volume can make more power than another IT MAKES NO SENSE... use your heads guys.

^^^ the MD 1/2" makes more up top than 5/16" too... it's not the material its the volume... 5/8" of course is slightly bigger than 1/2" but there is a sweet sport and 1/2" seems to be it (based on extensive plenum shootout testing done years back - as seen on MD website link).

The first spacers Tony was using were 5/8 - then he determined 1/2 was actually more advantageous... and of course later came 5/16 due to slightly better mid... but in the whole of things if you look closely at the data gathered (from many dyno pulls on different cars) the 1/2" gains in upper are by a greater margin than the 5/16" do in the mid... IMO the 1/2" is the way to go and based on the configuration I run (which is more detailed than just specific intake)... I've had very good results.

I do need to remove plenum and do some more tweaks though - some time ago things went amiss a bit (not sure why exactly, but I have my suspicions).

One thing is for certain... 90%+ people boast a specific setup as being "the one" only because they read it somewhere else... not many have actually researched or have done any testing - so for that, I give you kudos... but because of that, I've been turned off and dont bother giving info to people anymore - it has gotten goofy over the past few years...
