I have a really hard time believing this.

In order to do what you claim, the wheels must have been taken apart, lips then dipped in an electrically charged Muriatic acid bath (very few places in country can do), then sandblasted to remove the nickle under the chrome, then sanded, then primered, then painted, then reassemebled and resealed. (plus shipping unless there is a local place with ability).

But honestly you are talking about 500 per rim to do this. I doubt you could buy 3 piece rims for acouple grand then pay another 2000+ to get chrome removed and professionally painted, then sell them so cheap.

Seems much more likely for the price, that they simply put a layer of primer on top of the chrome then painted. The buyer wouldnt know for another 6 months when the paint starts to flake off the chrome.

A gallon of muriatic acid runs about 800 dollars alone, plus disposal can cost thousands. The chrome stripping process produces hexavalent chromium, which is the dangerous byproduct in the Erin Brokovich movie.

Primer on top of chrome and then paint wouldn't even last 2 months. That's first off because it will peel... Second you don't need to dip anything into acid. You can sand down chrome until you see no chrome at all... It just takes longer but it's the same process... The shop I took it to does allllll the painting work for FORGIATO.... I'm selling them so cheap because I want a chrome or polished lip... I couldn't keep the lips chrome because they were rashed. I didn't want to pay $200 per lip plus I thought it would be cool to have them painted but* I originally wanted chrome lips that's the only reason. But hey to each their own... Let me know if anyone is interested thanks

Primer on top of chrome can easily last 1 year or more with good prep. I actually painted my chrome Asantis black because I didnt want to pay to remove the chrome. Many many times on chrome lips, I have seen a shop just sand the rashed area smooth then throw some primer on.
Yes, the chrome can be sanded off but now you are talking tons of labor. Not even sanding will work, you would have to take a ginder to it first, then finish it with serious sanding. Not saying it isnt possible, but very labor intensive.

Im not calling you a liar man, just saying there is a good possibility that the shop who did the work did lie to you. For 800 it is very very unlikely they removed the chrome and painted them, or you got an amazing deal. I just recenly paid 500 just to have my wheels simply sandblased and repainted. That doesnt even include removing chrome, taking the wheels apart, installing new hardware, or resealing.

On my previous chrome Asantis, I had some curbage and shopped around to get them repaired and was quoted 2k or more from 5 different shops for the same work you paid 800 for.

No it's cool I know your not calling me a liar... I'm just saying that because I stopped by the shop plenty of times and yes it was very very labor intensive but then again that's all they do there.... But I do understand where you are coming from... I'm actually losing money selling them for $2000 but I'm very picky and I love how the wheels came out but I love the chrome lip look much more.... lol
