Brake/Stock Sedan wheel ?

I bought this kit.

http://fastbrakes.com/shop/product_i...oducts_id=1110

I got 20's that I know it should fit. But my concern is my stock 17. Would it be wise to buy some 5mm spacers to make these work or am I going to have to get some stock coupe 18's. Thanks for your feedback.

If you know that the kit will fit 17" wheels (diameter wise) and you're using stock sedan 17's, i'd just get some 15mm project kicks spacers (bolt on ones) so you dont have to deal with replacing all the studs to use the little 5mm spacers. Unless you just wanted to run the 5mm's up front or something.

No way are they gonna fit stock 17s. 5mm spacers might not be enough.

Dang, I was hoping it would. I guess I am going to have to buy some stock 18 or stock coupe 17.

Why not? Wilwood has some of the narrowest calipers around. And it's not the diameter of the wheel that would the issue. If those rotors are 13" rotors, it will clear 17" rims. It's the offset and shape of the rim, and if it's going to come into contact with the rim it'll likely be the caliper's face hitting the back of the spoke.

The only way to know for sure is install it.

the stock 17 on my G35x looks like it gots alot of room for the wilwood. i would get the wilwoods if i know for sure i can fit them behind my stock 17s with out spacers. the rims spokes are curved to give xtra room for brake clearance and the wilwood look alot narower the OEM calipers. any one with picks of the wilwood and OEM side by side. i asw a thread with it,. but cant find it now.

Because this is not a Wilwood kit the wheel templates will not be of much help but you can compare some of it.

http://www.wilwood.com/PDF/ds546.pdf

Using both a different caliper and a different rotor this kit may or may not be workable on a 17. The factory Wilwood kit fit with the BSL6n has a body over hang clearance need of only 1.07" or 27mm and should not pose much of a problem on a 17.

The FSL and the unknown rotor hat offset make calculations difficult. The FSL takes up more room and the hats may not be as deep to help this.

Well....my Wilwood SL-6s would not fit my stock 17s. I bought new wheels to fit them in. Even with my new 17X8 5Zigens, I needed a 3 mm spacer up front. See my sticky. Yeah, the calipers started to shave the spokes when they got hot.

Well I got the brakes on, I used a 5mm space with the 20, but by the looks of it, I might have been able to get away without it. But I like it on there, makes the wheels more flushed. My buddy tried the spare on since I have a full size. He said there is a business card gap. I am going to double check this weekend.

Do you guys think that is enough to keep the stocks on?

Your sticky is supplying much false information.

The kit you have purchased is not a Wilwood kit and (like the other) does not conform to the pdf specs listed for Wilwood kits. I believe you have a Arizona Z-car kit. And certainly not a bad kit. However the Wilwood kit is supplied with narrow body, radial mount calipers for a reason; wheel fit. The body you have in service is much wider and uses a thicker pad. Both good points in the right context, but not wheel friendly.

The factory Wilwood 13" BSL6r caliper package should have no need for wheel spacers. Or at the least extremely small ones as the outer body to friction surface difference is reduced by about 1/2" or 13mm.

I have nothing against either of the aftermarket kits being spoken of, however they should not be represented as Wilwood kits. They remain alternate built kits using, in part, Wilwood product. Let's make the sticky based in fact please, and not place blame on the company who did not produce it.

Here is the gap between my stock wheels and the caliper. It works but when things heat up dont they expand, so I am just worried about that.

No I have not, I am going to put the stocks on later this week. I was waiting for someone to answer if the gap was ok and gdup answered it for me. I will let you know later this week. The brake are not that grabby, but the stopping it great and shorter from what I have tested on the 20.
