New toys... (HFC/R&P)

I picked up a set of Berk metallic high flow cats for the G. Typical gains w/ no other modifications are ~7-10whp/~10+wtq.

Then I went ahead and picked up the 4.083 R&P set I've been looking at.

I'm planning on a March 29th install for both, as well as swapping on the G37 wheels and having my timing bumped up 2* at the dealer with Consult when I get the oil changed and the TPMS calibrated for the new wheels.

Then off to the dyno and track to see what impact the changes and 6,000 more miles since the last dyno have.

:jamin: I'm pumped, it's been killing me to not touch a car this winter.

WOW! Nice toys Cali G!! How much are the BERK HFC?? And where did you pick them up at? LINK? Awesome, Can't wait to see your Results on these Mods! Also why so many HFC Lying on the floor? Did you have a choice to pick which one you wanted? LOL. Just was wondering. Might pick up a set if it makes any noticeable gains,

Are the gains from the high flow cats at the high end, and you lose some low-end?

I believe HFC's give gains throughout the entire rev-range.

I don't know if you guys remember the 'axle-back' I had custom fabricated a while ago, but that will be what I'll run to finish off the exhaust.

I want it to stay fairly quiet, and I see most of the gains coming from a new muffler vs. new resonators and slightly larger piping.

That will be part of my before/after comparison with my stock dyno. So if I get higher than average gains, I'll know the combo of the HFC's and axle-back exhaust complimented each other.

And yes, I just ordered them through the group buy on myg37.com. Pretty good deal vs. 'msrp' so I had to jump on it.

I've got some OEM cats for sale now that I was thinking of gutting out to run 'sleeper' test pipes if anyone wants them.

The Berk setup still uses the same diameter pipe though, doesn't it? I wish the made something a little less restrictive like 2 1/4" or bigger.

you don't want to create a large chamber below that will increase or create any droning. I doubt the pipes are too restrictive.. and if they are, go with test pipes or my gutted cats.

If anything I think they'd be quieter on a stock exhaust G35 sedan than a stock exhaust G37 coupe.

I'll have sound clips in April at the dyno and probably out on the street, but that will be after the group buy is complete.
