Another 18k another oil change.

First no I didn't change my oil after 18k miles. I have n 06 coupe with navi. Why does it give us the option to set the oil change reminder up to 18k miles on the navi screen do people really wait that long between changes?

Amsoil has oil that lasts that long between changes.

Next time you take your car in for service they can change that if it annoys you, that is dumb 18K miles between changes even with AMSOIL.

That is called the new sludge features. Some owners like to have extra sludge inside the motor to give better weight ratio and brake bias.

This is what it will look like if you take advantage of the 18k oil changes but at 17.583k you will be fine.

If it was set correctly (3,500) miles is should warn those drivers that don't have memories/retarded when to change their oil. Had I designed the VQ engine/systems it would shut off at 5K miles and have to be towed in for service....

Why not?

Their pain, suffering, and expense. I DGAF and it gives me a good laugh when I see threads displaying their ignorance.

I'm more worried about stupid people having kids. THAT impacts MY wallet.

OP - who knows why it goes that high? Most likely a software default that was overlooked - I wouldn't care - I don't need something to tell me when my ish is due.

And agree - anyone waiting 18K between flushes is a dumb fvck and deserves whatever they get.

you set up the reminder intervals yourself in the navigation unit. Hit the info butto and then go to maintenance. There you can set the oil change interval as well as the oil filter change interval. No need for stickers in the window reminding you when and at what miles to change your oil.

Oh yea I know that, I just found it odd how it had intervals for like 6k 12k and 18k miles

That's weird, my '03 NAV only lets me set it up to 7,500 miles.

Those pictures above reminds me of that one E46 BMW that went 60,000 miles without an oil change.
