it does rain every now & then in CA (plus fog this time of year)... could be a legal issue as well - I've never looked it up, but I suspect there's a reg that states wiper is mandatory (I've always meant to research that, just never have)... most of us keep the driver-side wiper in the trunk just in case.

IOW, it's smart for him not to have filled those holes (at least the driver's side).

Unless you meant a back-up to use for shows... which would be overlooked I'm sure.

 

yes as i said another in my post just for shows. Since he does so many shows and it only takes 10mins to swap out the cowl with 10 clips or so, 2 course thread screws, 2 nuts for the wipers themselves and 4 6mm bolts for the wiper assembly. You would have to pull the assembly to completely smooth out the cowl. Since he always has his hood popped you will see the cowl.

 

^^^ didn't see your "other post"... but as I mentioned, it's easily overlooked/missed at a show - and not worth the hassle of dealing with two cowls... lots of us have painted cowls without wipers and there are sooooo many other things (even in Marcus' bay) that would catch the eye, that imo it isnt worth the time, effort or expense to have one with filled holes and one with open.

^even if you don't notice the cowl by itself, IMO it's one of those things that just contributes to the general cleanness of the engine bay.
I know a number of times I've been at a show, looking at a car, thinking how insanely clean it looks and couldn't put my finger on exactly why, and later a friend would ask 'hey, did you notice the so-and-so on that car?' no... but that would explain why it looked so good.

Stephen, I considered filling the windshield wiper holes too like Danny did but I do on rare occasions run them when it rains so I needed to still have that as an option. Would be cool to shave one completely for shows though I agree.

I filled in the wiper fluid sprayers because I've used them once in 4+ years of owning the car. My wiper fluid reservoir has been removed on the passenger side and this was just one more thing (unique thing since only 1 person has done it to date) to do to clean up the engine bay. If I ever sell the car (which I never plan on doing...LOL) it will not be a big deal to buy another drivers side wiper cowl (they are all over eBay I checked before I did this) and swap it out. Mike, it wasn't an additional expense to do so, so I went for it.

 

You realize we were referring to the hole for the wiper arm right?... I agree that painted/shaved cowl is a big positive - but I don't think anyone would walk away from a show saying "did you see those shaved wiper holes"... my point was simply that it doesn't seem worth having two painted and shaved cowls that you swap out for shows (just so one can have a hole and the other one not).

But anyway - its Marcus' car and I'm sur he thought it all through for what works for him.

Wouldn't be the least noticeable detail he's changed out... I'm pretty sure Marcus has swapped bolts that you can't even see

 

but he doenst put the pretty ones on for show, then swap them out for normal ones to daily drive...

That's the equivalent to what we are talking about with one cowl having a hole for wiper and one without.

The cowl being painted and shaved (even with a hole for wiper) looks very clean... if he were to arrive at a show and swap cowls that are otherwise identical (other than the wiper hole), it's highly doubtful that anyone would even notice. Which is why I said it's not worth it (imo).

The original suggestion was to simply shave to hole... but that's not a good idea, since you actually need the ability to use the wiper at times... but is it really worth having a second identical cowl with one hole filled? I guess that's up to Marcus.

 

My shaving of two small holes in the wiper cowl is generating almost as much discussion as my single tip exhaust.

Thanks to Randy (RRYDE) for waking up early this morning and going over to Eric's shop to swap it for me. Randy even took the time to clean up the area behind the core support (AC Condensor, etc.), thank you sir!









We had talked about burning my ARC titanium radiator panel a couple months ago when I got it polished, but I was undecided how I wanted to burn it. Randy suggested just a subtle line to show that its titanium, he burned it for me today (pictured sitting on unpainted core support). Thanks again homie.
