First of all, I'd like to let you know that my reply isn't meant to insult or offend anyone.

Just out of curiosity, why are 8.5 and 9.5 considered too thin? Is it just because majority of the G/Z owners go with 9.5/10.5 setup? If for pure show/look purposes, the 9.5/10.5 may be more attractive but for any other reasons, shouldn't 8.5/9.5 be sufficient? Tire sizes isn't the issue since both can fit the popular sizes; 245 or 255 in the front and 275 for the rear. I'm a n00b and don't know all the technical stuff so I could be wrong but my understanding is that 8.5/9.5 is actually better for performance since they're lighter than 9.5/10.5.
Probably not by much but difference in weight is there I believe.
Again, I'm not trying to justify that 8.5/9.5 is better over 9, 9.5/10.5, 11 or anything like that. I personally have 9.5/10.5 combo myself because I'm a fan of big fat lips. I do know the basic stuff to size, width, weight, etc however, some more detailed pros&cons to having various sizes would be great for my reference (and fellow noobs). I'd be able to would make a better decision when it's time to shop for a new set of wheels that'd suit my needs better than others.

Thanks in advance!

Basically the way I see it, is that the only reason you would need wider wheels is because you are putting down too much hp for your "thinner" wheels to handle... I say if you are not putting down in excess of 500hp in a street car, you dont need 9.5" in the front and 10" in the back. And when it comes to the track I believe you should go as big as you can in the front and use the same in the rear.... unless you are running some ungodly amount of hp and those extra inches in the rear will keep you on the track. I just think everybody thinks "bigger is better" as well.
