it's not really a wear and tear part... even used, it's only worth $20-$40 less, people go new for piece of mind. All it is, is a piece of metal that has no moving parts.

why would someone sell off a used one? Decrease in fuel economy? warranty issues? don't like the sound? Just curious because I am about to buy one.

Going back to stock (which is what I'm doing)? You have no reason NOT to buy a used one.
