Pioneer Avic Z-1 Pics please

Does anyone have the new Z-1 HU installed? If so, can you post pics and let us know what additional accessories you've installed with it.
Also give us details and experience u have with the Z-1. The good and Bad.
Getting ready to purchase. Just want some feedback from the ones that already have them.

Thanks in advance.

i'm in the process of having mine installed right now. It is taking a while to get everything done, but I will take some pics when install is finished..hopefully by tomorrow. the biggest problem I encountered was that the z1 is quite a bit smaller than the size of the 05-06 double din finisher in both heighth and width, causing a gap on all 4 sides when the unit is centered. The trim that comes with the z1 does not fit, even with cutting or sanding. my installer is going with some kind of black foam to seal off the gaps for a clean look. I am also having the IPOD interface installed (CDIB100II). Also, my installer claims he can hack the system for video/navi uses while car is in motion (without the ghetto turning lights on and off 3 times trick). I will let you know if it works

Do you mean how you can't use some navi functions like address input, and I forgot what else, while in motion? If so, then what's the "ghetto" method of turning lights on/off? Please be so kind and explain in detail....Grazie...

you can't input addresses (and possibly other navi functions) or watch dvd video while car is going, and this cannot be overridden by just grounding the ebrake wire like in other units. "ghetto" method is if you have ebrake wire grounded, you can turn your headlights on and off 3 times in a row while the system is booting up in order to allow navi/dvd video functions while driving. this is lame and is bad for the HID's. so far no one has come up with a good solution

Hack for Avic-Z1 while in motion

Hey guys,

Check this site out. http://www.avic411.com/forum

Found it when I was looking for a hack for the AVIC Z1

Very Good inforrmation if you own any Pioneer Avic ??.

for AVIC-Z1, it talks about serveral different ways of wiring the ground wire and U can purchase a Circuit from Ducatti on this forum that will work.
Looks like he's done awesome work with testing.
