Question on Alpine w200
Question on Alpine w200
Ok guys I Bought the w200 and I'm getting everything together that I need to install it. Now I need to know which PAC unit to use. And before everyone starts saying SEARCH, I did and found this https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...highlight=w200
It is mentioned that PAC SWI-ALP this needed but can anyone confirm that this works. The reason I asked because I called crutchfield and they said that it doesn't work they recomended the SWI-X infrared.

I did some more searching and here is another form that claims that it works not with the G35 but other cars

I think I'm going to order it and give it a shot. I figure I have a 50/50 chance. I know one person already said it doesn't work but others claim it does. realdieu it is not that I don't trust you but I'm going to do the install my self and while I have everything apart I'll give it a try. I figure I have nothing to lose if it doesn't work oh well. I'll order it from a place where I can send it back.

If the ALP version doesnt work the SWI-X will for sure since it is a universal. The only difference is that you program the SWI-W with the alpine remote itself it is not pre programmed. That and you have an infared eye that needs to be facing the infared reciever in the unit instead of plugging into a wired remote in the back of the W200. If you have any other question feel free to call or e-mail directly. Hope this clears some things up.

Sorry guys but the stuff is sitting in my room waiting on me. I did finally get the PAC SWI-ALP but the weather doesn't look to good down here in Florida so I don't know if I'll get to it. I did talk to a guy from sound advise and he claims it works but he hasn't installed the w-200 in a G35. He did say that they installed other HU with that PAC unit. So far I haven't gotten a yes or no answer from anybody that I asked. I'll guess I'll find out the hard way hahaha.
jmlaudio have you guys installed the w200 in a G35 with the PAC SWI-ALP? I couldn't make out from your response. Crutch field did tell me that I could use the SWI-X. I think that would be my last resort.

It does not work. I stood there with the folks at cartunes while they attempted to install it. The plugs are different even though it reads on the compatability chart that it is for the G35. Perhaps it is for the G35 sedan or an early model 04.
W200 and SWI-ALP
The SWI-ALP does work with the IVA-W200.
I just installed it last weekend.
All is working well.
I also installed the Pac TR-7 Trigger Module so you can bypass the
footbrake/ parking brake sequence to turn on DVD display.
Crutchfield does not offer the SWI-ALP as an accessory to the W200 because
the steering wheel control option is not listed, I think, but if you download the W200 manual you will see a plug location (left side 1/3 way down) and also the plug is defined in the owner's manual as steering wheel control.
Both Pac install components are pretty easy, just be sure to read over the Pac
install notes completely.

I installed the Peripheral piece for my steering wheel controls. Works just fine.

I also installed the PAC TR7 to bypass the lockout. Peteman is correct. They are both fairly easy to install, just read the install documentation carefully.

Don't you all jump on me. I was out of town and till the day of today I haven't installed the system. But this weekend I'm doing it weather permitting. Thanks peteman & Milox for your response. I have everything and it is just a matter of taking everthing apart. I'm thinking of adding the backup camera to the system. wish me luck hahaha.
ok It's finally done. And yes the pac unit worked with no problem. You just have to follow all the steps in order to program it right. And you have to time it rigth because if you wait to long it finishes the programming. You guys who installed it know what I mean. The only problem I had was mounting the unit so that it looked nice. What I ended up doeing is putting the black frame that come with it behind the finisher and adjusted the stock braket a little so that it looked kinda flush. I'll take some pics soon I hope.
