i have an 05 G. Is it reasonable to cut a hole in the headliner to install the bluetooth plastic cover and install a microphone? This way the microphone placement would be stock.

And the current Alpine 300BT is not any better, I mounted the MIC in the exact location of my stock one, just to gain the on-screen control. I do not like the Alpine BT because there is not an option to change the output speaker to just one, so everyone hears themself.

I did do an Install for a friend's Navigator, putting in the Kenwood DD 7100 ish with BT. Much better set up, can change the output to one speaker etc. No echo!

The Stock system sounds better now than my Alpine. I am not sure if this is because of the single speaker output, or did Nissan change the microphone to make the 07 better. I am first going to try to use the stock 07 microphone as the input to the Alpine BT. If that does not improve things, I am going to open up my Alpine 300BT, and figure out how to get it to output to only one speaker (like stock).

That looks sweet! I don't use the in-car bluetooth anymore because the bad reception from the mic. I always had to tilt my head/lift @$$ off of my seat towards the mic to talk. I carry a bluetooth headset from motorola instead... sad.

Do you mean "how does it work, do you speak into it?" or "how does it work, good or bad?"

I speak into the mic when asked to speak a voice command or when I pickup a call on my phone/HU and the HU/people can hear me really well.

i have just found a TSB for the M series where they replace the mic with a better mic and move the placement to over the drivers head.

This is referenced on the Infiniti help website in the TSB section.

TSB (ITB07-036) .

Maybe we can get them to do this for the G series as well.

is a TSB (technical service bulletin?) something that makes it like a Recall from infiniti? where they'll fix every car to do that?

If so, what can we do to make it so, since the whole car phone law comes into effect in just weeks...

Whatever fix there is, we should make infiniti do it, since we all paid extra $$ assuming it works well!

A TSB is not a recall, it's just something technical that Infiniti has noticed and is willing to resolve if your vehicle is still under warranty. In some cases they can volunteer to resolve the issue even if it is past warranty; however, if the issue exists in your vehicle and there is a TSB for it, they will likely apply it.

Yeah this is really annoying. Maybe that M-series TSB will apply to our cars?

Also, regarding the mic replacement, it might be more effective to buy a condenser microphone and connecting it directly to the phone unit in the trunk (just above the bose amplifier).

How would up and to the left be any better than up and to the right?

Can existing OEM mic be cut out and relocated? If not any links or recommendations to alternative mics that i could make work with OEM input in trunk?
