Which wire to tap into for reverse?

I've had a rear view camera installed on my car for more than a year now, but never had it wired, so that whenever the car was put into reverse, the rear camera would work.

FYI, I'm working with a Pioneer AVIC-Z1.

Anyhow, was wondering if you guys could direct me to which wire I should tap the rear sensor wire from the headunit.

Thanks!

it is a purple wire in the driver kick area in the harness that runs to the rear of the car. make sure you test it, there are 3 or 4 that are the same color.

you can cheat if you don't want to tap into your kick panel.

if you are running aftermarket amps, you'll obviously not be using the stock speaker wires. just tap the headunit reverse wire into one of the speaker wires not being used, than run back to your trunk and tap that same speaker wire into the reverse light.

if this is something that interests you, call me or PM me and I'll get you the wire colors tomorrow evening.

vinh

if you are running

that will work too but its more work to run the wire 12-15 ft rather than 2-3 at most

huh?

you must not understand my post.

the only wire you run is the wire from the harness in the trunk to the reverse light in the trunk, which is only 2-3 ft.

nevamind...

well i want it to show up automatically when i put it in reverse, but also have the ability to turn the camera on whenever i please. when i had the AVIC-N1 in, i would always have to push the camera on setting when i was reversing. i just want that to be automated now. but i just like being able to turn it on when i'm in motion. sounds stupid, but i just think it's cool. and my nieces love watching the screen when it shows the outside

most indash HU's have a reverse input on the back of them, this is what im talking about. running a wire from you HU to the kick area. if you are just doing it from the power wire on the camera then yes you can just run it from there to the revese light at the rear of the car, but it will only display when the car is put in reverse, and not whenever you choose. hope that makes more sense
