To All Ipod Car Integrators.
I just bought a 60G Ipod Video and am interested in integrating it into my 04 G35 which currently has a Pioneer AVIC-N2 DVD Multimedia/Navigation System. I know that the AVIC is Ipod compatible and has an Ipod adapter that allows you to control Ipod audio functionality from the AVIC interface (Part #: CD-IB100). My question is:
1. Is there anyway (such as through a PAC adapter!?) to be able to send the VIDEO output form the Ipod to the AUX-in of the AVIC?
2. Will I be able to retain the steering wheel controls (currently enabled through a PAC-SWI adapter) and also charge the Ipod through the car power source?
Thanks in advance for the help,
JD

You have two options of hooking this unit up since you have the aftermarket deck. Option 1 is to hook it up using the Pioneer adapter (which I have done). It will give you audio, charging, on/off, control via steering wheel (assuming you have PAC SWI adapter running your head unit), but it won't display video for you on your screen. Option 2 is just to run the 3 way RCA cable from the 1/8" jack on the top of your Ipod into the A/V inputs on your deck. The problem with this is you won't have steering wheel controls. You could still have a charger plugged into the bottom of it though.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Thank you very much for the response... I'm new to the whole Ipod accessory scene and wasn't aware that they have a plug and play A/V RCA cable. Just a follow up question: Couldn't I combine both options 1 and 2 that you suggested to acheive the desired outcome of both my initial questions, effectively maintaining:
1. charging capabilities,
2. steering wheel control functionality for just the Ipod audio (relying on the CD-IB100 Ipod Pioneer Adapter for Ipod Audio Aux)
3. video functionality using the RCA jack (which I could hook up to an alternate AUX - as there are multiple ones on the AVIC), which when in use I would have to control manually.
If so, that would answer one of my questions regarding whether I need a PAC adapter (such as the PAC-NIS2) to run the audio. The answer being NO, as the CD-IB100 fulfills that aspect as it is specifically suited for the Pioneer AVIC-N2.
