Playstation installation question

Does any know how I would go about feeding power to a playstation. How would I go about connecting it to the battery?

Re: Playstation installation question

Your gonna need a power converter. Dont know much about them yet but I think it's some kind of inverter to get you 110v power output.

Re: Playstation installation question

I'm installing a PS2 in mine this weekend if I can get the parts I need to re-configure it the way I want it. Someone mentioned it being able to fit in a 4x5x4 space but it's going to take some parts that I'm having trouble locating.

Re: Playstation installation question

What you need is an AC to DC converter. Plugs right into the cigarette lighter. I had my installer mod it so it turns of with the car and its not even plugged into the cigarette lighter. Problem was had to spend 100 bucks to get it to do that.

Re: Playstation installation question

ok... i dont know if this will work or not... but check this V1 installation out... u can do an easy hardwire from the ps2 to the bottom box underneath the driver side wheel using the 15A cigarette lighter... that way the ps2 will turn on/ off when the car turns on / off..... check it out

Re: Playstation installation question

I was under the impression that i needed a power inverter to hook up my playstation, but it turns out the place i got it installed (Bumper to Bumper in Freehold, NJ) knew how to bypass an internal power inverter in the PS2. Apparently, the PS2 runs on 12V, like a car battery, but uses the internal power adapter to change the 110V into 12V. So instead of power inverting the voltage twice, they bypass it completely, giving you the option to just run the power from your fuse box. My playstation also turns off whenever the car turns off. It just has to do with hooking it up to a fuse that turns off with the car, like the radio fuse.

Re: Playstation installation question

Forgive my ignorance, but why would you want a playstation in your car unless you have kids in the back?
