Valentine 1 placement...

I did a search, and couldn't find anything, so I hope it's not out there and I hope you don't jump down my throat, but I have a newbie question: where should I put my Valentine 1? Can't put it directly behind the RV mirror because then it can't see out the back. Can't put it above the mirror because the tint will throw it off at night. Can't put it down on the dash because the front window is lower than the back so it won't be able to see out the back idyllically. Can't put it attached to the visor because of the tint and the back. Can't put it on the far left because of the back. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Mine is to the left of the mirror, slightly above it. I have no problems getting directional detection no matter what time it is, or how dark.

Hey there...

Do you think you could post a close up of just the remote display as you have it mounted in the ashtray? I would like to see more closely what that looks like exactly & what you had to do to get it in there, so you could close it as well..

Thanks.

Everytime you get a tone do you want to look down at the ashtray or at the speedo to see how much you need to slow down? Looking down at the ashtray is as bad as looking up at the visor. You might as well save the money for something else and go w/out the remote. If you look at my remote it doesn't cover any gauges that you actually need. It covers 0-750 rpm and 145+ mph.

I have mine just below the mirror using the suction cups provided. I switch between the G and my Riv when I travel to NYC.

Re: Valentine 1 placement...

Human response time is far shorter from an audio trigger than a visual one; this has been known for a very long time.

My V1 is on the driver's side above the mirror. I don't use or need the remote display, and I don't want it cluttering up my instrument panel. Other than turning off the display on the main unit for the "stealth" look in states where radar detectors are illegal (not CA), I never understood the benefit of the remote display.

If I'm going fast enough to get stopped I know it. I don't need (or want) my V1 display by my speedo to know exactly how much to slow down. If I get a BRAP, I hit the brakes, coast off a bit, and look for the cruiser.

Check out my install.. I live in a City and I am constantly hitting the mute button.. having the remote in the dash area would not be safe for me... lol

Re: Valentine 1 placement...

Mine's on a custom bracket stuck on the windshield. It mounts to the V-1 using part of the visor bracket, and allows me to one-handedly mount/dismount the V-1 in about 3 seconds, including the power cord. Nice and secure, minimal shake, and no futzing around with the suction cups.

My remote display blocks only a small amount of the temp gauge (I can still see the tip of the needle while driving), and keeps it basically line-of-sight.

Re: Valentine 1 placement...

I have a V1 and have placed it right above the speedo/tachmoteter. I let it sit about 1/8 inch above the dash. The cord runs down the right side and plugs in. This actually is a pretty slick set up.
