anyone with aftermarket components in a coupe? i have a question

How did you install your 6.5 mid inside the door? are their gaps all around where air is coming out? The shop that did mine along time ago just took out the factory ones and drilled holes into my door and screwed my new ones on leaving all these gaps for air to come out of, sigh...

I wanted to get them installed properly. So i was wondering what a proper setup to install a 6.5mid driver would look like. If somebody has a picture with this, can you please post em up, so i can take it down to a car stereo shop to show them exactly how i want it. I'm tired of people not caring anymore, its hard to trust anyone with your car these days, sigh.

Also what is the price range on a component speaker system thats "properly" installed for our cars? I want to be sure they don't rip me off.

basically what you need to install a 6.5" cleanly into the door is a spacer ring made out of MDF. i used the stock Bose speaker as a template so i could use the Bose mounting screws and holes to secure the whole thing to the door, and then screwed my Polk component speakers right into the ring. if you go on ebay and search, Mike from ZEnclosures (he's big on My350z, makes sub boxes) sells these pre-cut for $20 a pair i believe... you should be able to easily install them yourself
