it's not so much of a dimming problem but more of jerkiness response upon shifting under heavy loads of bass when listening to my music... the dimming problem is very minimal in my car... i'm more concerned about fixing the other problem.

would upgrading the factory ground cable from the battery to maybe a 4guage help? and is it that thin black wire from my battery it?

i plan on replacing the factory ground 1st, and then if that doesnt do it, get a optima yellowtop d35, and if the problem still exists, get a grounding kit. if none of those work, im not sure what else to do... this really sucks

If you are going with ground get Gordgee's ground kit, and get that optima battery.

I haven't done the Big 3 yet, mainly because I haven't gotten around to installing my sub it, but it is different from a grounding kit, because it is missing a few of the wires. Doing both will probably help out quite a bit. Its always suggested before upgrading anything else, because it is the cheapest solution. Changing the battery shouldn't really make too much of a difference, since when the car is running the alternator is supplying the current to your amp, which is at a higher voltage than the battery anyways. If you read through that post I linked to, they discuss alot of the reasons for doing the big 3, so I would do some research on some audio boards regarding that.

The "Big 3" and the grounding kits both have their own advantages. Personally, I would do a "hybrid" kit. Take a kit like Gordgees that has all the wires, plus add the alternator-to-positive battery post wire. Then you have the best of both worlds. I would also consider doing a more direct neg battery to chasis ground. That was the first wire I put in my car. 0 AWG with a Stinger terminal.

That would be my suggestion as well. Also, don't replace the wires, but rather piggyback them on the old ones. That way the current will take the path of least resistance and provide the best grounding possible. have fun with the altenator wire also, very tight squeeze, haven't done it but I have tried to locate it so that I could begin planning my big 3 upgrade

Yeah, the alternator wire wasn't fun, but I managed to get it. You will need a long extension with a wobble socket to get at it from behind the exhaust manifold. I've been meaning to take some pics, but have been really busy.
