CD Player works, then don't work, then works again

So my stock CD player is working fine for over 2 years now...then 2 days ago I start my car and no CD's will play...

The CD's scroll through like they are trying to play but skip to the next CD every 20 seconds and then I get the "Check Disc" message...So of course I get on the forums and start reading as much as I can about the problem.

Today I head out to the car to unhook the battery (read as a possible fix, by resetting everything) but before I do, I test the CD player before I unhook it....and the damn thing works...

WTF???

Anyone else had this problem occur, then all of a sudden dissapear???
I expect it to re-appear soon, but was wiondering if anyone else experienced anything similar.

Thanks for any input guys.

Go and get your cd changer changed. I changed mine two times already since I had my car. Lots of problems.

I'm right behind ya! Can't wait to get rid of this stupid Bose crap. It's been long enough. I've owned this car for 3 years. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Seems to be a common problem. If you are out of warranty, maybe you can find someone who is willing to sell their HU to you. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have gone double DIN.

I have an appointment with the dealer...are they going to try and repair it? Or will they just replace it, because I assume that they will have to order parts for replacement...I am already seeing a run around here...

Bring it in for them to look at it, followed by OK we will order parts, should be here in a month, followed by bring your car in again for replacement, followed by, oops sorry we scrathed the hell out of everything, and bent a rim....and the damn CD player will not work a month later anyway

I HATE STEALERSHIPS!!!

they replace the unit with another unit that could go bad. They never fixed this issue, they just keep replacing units until you end up with a good (aka lucky) one.

yep i had mine switched out once already. my new one was good for several months untill my driver side channel started dying..now both sides are dying.

Edit: i forgot to mention that you should take all your CDs out before you bring it in, otherwise itll be a while untill you get your CDs back.

Ya I got my CD's out already...that was never a problem. This sounds like a painful process I am probably about to enter...
