Sub : Is 2 better than 1

Im installing sub in the trunk using 4080 box with JL 10w6v2. Is 1 more then enough or will having 2 cause rattles in the car?
Thanks

Generally what I tell people is if you're looking for sound quality, 1 sub is good. If you're looking for SPL, 2 subs are good. There are, of course, many exceptions to this... but it's my very general rule of thumb for those who don't really know what to do as far as their sub setup is concerned.

You do not need 2. 1 JL is more than enough bass for the coupe.

That's a matter of opinion. If he's going for SPL, 2 is a good idea. He never said he was looking for a "balanced" setup. He never said WHAT he was going for. He implied he doesn't want rattles, but I've seen vans with the entire rear portion filled with subs, and the sound deadening was so good you couldn't hear it outside of the vehicle (SPL competitions).

one thing to keep in mind is that a second sub will only add about 3db to the final spl #. So in reality, one good sub with plenty o power with work just fine.
For the real audiophiles, running two sizes might help even more with sound quality, such as an 8" and a 10". the 8" running only midbass, and the 10 carrying the lower freqs the 8 cant handle... just a thought.
I have been waiting for someone to create 8" adapters so you can replace the 6X9s with free air 8's. That would be cool - imo.

I just installed my JL W6 tonight. Holy crap this baby pounds, infact - this single 10" hits harder than my old 12" Diamond Audio D6!

If anything, it's more bass than you really need. I can't even imagine having 2 of them. That will be over-doing it.

My car rattles plenty already with one w6 =(.

What kind of amp do you have for that w6? I found the 250/1 perfect for it. If you get 2 subs get a 500/1 for them. Perfect match.
