Radar Hardwire (Which wire)?
I really didn't wanna start a new thread, but I've been searching and reading through the forums for about 3 days now and I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
My question is I have a radar detector (not V1). Don't laugh but it's a Cobra. I've had it in my past 2 vehicles and it serves it's purpuse plus it was a gift.
Now I've had it hardwired in my past two Maxima's to the fuse box under the drivers dash. Fortunately for me guy's in the Max forum had a clear write up on what wires to tap. I currently have access to a gang of wires down there now so i was wondering is anyone could tell me which wires to tap. Maybe a picture or something. I don't have one of those electoric meter things to check for power in wires and if I did I would know how to use it any.... lol. Any help would be much apprecitated.
BTW I'm a new member here. Just got my 2004 G35 Coupe about a week and a half ago and this car is Great!!
Thanks

you could always buy an "add a fuse" adapter to the fuse box.. http://www.wirthco.com/product_info....38a3ca43b0ceb3 much easier than spicing into the wires. just pull a fuse that is only powered when the car is on, i used the one for the mirrors. i think it was about $5 at autozone. make sure you get the mini one and some extra fuses.

i wired up my V1 last night. i didn't want to buy a short RJ cable from the
mirror harness so i just used the V1s regular flat cord and fed it above the
ceiling, across the top of the a-pillar cover, down the weather strip,
across the cluster area (down by the OBDII) and up into the cigarette
lighter socket on the driver side. I just used a plastic squeegee to push it
into the panel; nothing taken apart. i can put the conceled display
on the cig lighter too if I decide to do so later on. it's a very clean install.
imho, if you have a V1, no meaning running a tap into the mirror harness.

I'm having trouble with this thing too. I have a cobra detector as well...nothing fancy like you V1 owners but it does the job. I cut the cig adapter off and now i am left with two wires. One is white and the other is red. This may seem kind of stupid but i take it that the red is power and white is ground?? what do i do??
