reverse mirror tilt?

I have a friend who drives a CL and his mirror tilts down when he puts his car in reverse. I wish our car did that! Anyone know if theres a kit for that? I thought I saw somewhere that one might exist in Japan. I plan on going soon. Does someone have a part number? Thanks in advance.

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

There is a tilt kit for this from Japan, I will attach a pic that I have of it, BUT, I also asked in another thread for info about it, as I do not know where to get it, or it's part # specifically, but you can see from the picture, it's a Nissan kit & it's on a Coupe or Z for the JDM...

I would LOVE to find info on this....

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

I wouldn't pay that kinda dough, but that option is great. You don't know how much you actually use it until you don't have it.

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

Well, what I would wonder is this; Obviously we already have electric mirrors, all that is needed is a control device, that knows when you drop into reverse & tilts the mirror down then up when done. I would wonder if you can obtain the components, without mirrors, & if so, is the cost less??

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

Thanks for all the replies. I knew I saw it somplace but I couldnt remember which site. I thought this was a common mod because most luxury cars already have it. I was hoping this would be cheaper. No way Im spending $700 for this. Im sure somebody here can engineer this for us. Im willing to pay a modest price. Anybody want to give it a shot?

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

I was looking into this mod but it would seem near impossible if the stock mirror does not have any feedback mechanism built in. The tilt down mechanism on other cars incorporate a feedback resistor where the tilt circuit measures the resistance and then marks it as the return point. It tilts the mirror down and then returns it to the preset resistance once you shift out of reverse. I have not disassembld the mirror to confirm whether it has this or not but have been thinking about this mod for some time now.

I will work on this more once I finish my other project - the window roll-up module.

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

this may be somewhat obvious but what about programming the mirrors with the seat? is the mirror position memorized as well? if so, just hit the second seat memory when reversing.... or no?

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

Galle: said -- "I just do it manually..." I don't know if you were just being factitious with your response to this valuable thread or what, but there is a real nead for this option. There are important safety considerations as well.
Having spent some $2400 on rims, I certainly don't want to abrade them when parallel parking, and do crank the right mirror down to observe the curb during the parking maneuver. That works, but all too often I forget to crank it back up, and then all of a sudden when I do need the right mirror to view the right side, there it is, looking at the pavement, and of no help at all. Lincolns have had this feature for years. It is a significant omission by Infiniti.

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

I spoke with Japanparts about this a while back. The mirrors also fold in on themselves when the car is off. They said that they WILL NOT work in the US. You would have to design a completely different circuit board including the programming. If someone does find a way, I would definitely be interested!

Re: reverse mirror tilt?

I am thinking about doing just my passenger side mirror, I paid $6K for my 3pc wheels and I don't want them jacked up! Thanks for the info guys.
