newest Z install done...pics :)
first install after returning from china...man i got used to not breathing in sawdust
car is a white 06 350z...the goals are:
1. good sound quality
2. complete use of trunk space (stealth)
3. clean but with a little flare
lets get started:
headunit: Pioneer 7800MP installed using the metra 06 Z kit:
the front stage uses a pair of Polk Audio Signature Reference 6.5" comp set (mounted coaxially) in a set of Wicked CAS door pods. The inside of the door pod is compeltely dampened with Edead, as is the inside of hte plastic door panel. while it was a huge pain to pull suede across the curvy shape, i managed to do it with lots of tugging and swearing
the trunk is obviously hte main attraction, here is what it looks like all covered, up, as you can see the floor hasnt been raised at all
take out the two layers of carpet and you are greated with this:
covers protect and hide all the components, and a combination vinyl/sude makes up the floor theme. the center is a mesh grill covered in grile cloth to protect the subs
and with all the covers off, its all revealed Two Elemental Designs nine2x flank a pair of Ed 11kv black cones, infront of the amps are the two monstrous crossover modules from the Polk SR set. two tone black vinyl with white suede flows across the entire floor...
sounds pretty decent as well, the two 11kvs provide more than enough bass in the little Z to shake hairs and rattle mirrors, and they even provide clean bass with the carpet on
and here are a few behind the scenes shots to show some of the attention to detail:
first you can see the pods thare dampened as well as the doors, semi-permiable carpet and a piece of foam dampening gives the pod a semi-sealed enclosure. note TWO pairs of new speaker wires are run into the door via the factory molex plug
and here is the trunk with all the floor off, showing that there arent flying wires every where

polk SRs have been a good speaker choice IMO for sometime now:
of course realizing that everyones taste is different, so i am going to compare it versus DLS's nobelium 6.5" two ways as a reference since they are my personal set.
polk:
midbass: average, not extremely strong, but natural and decently powerful
midrange: great for a two way set, smooth and pretty natural
highs: though not as laid back as the DLS tweets, they are a bit more detailed
what i love about them is also their mounting flexibility with the coaxial option, and the biamp capable advanced design crossovers
if i were a polk dealer, i woudl probably use them a decent amount of the time
