Precision Power Amps Question

What are your experiences with them? I read a few posts that said after DEI bought them out, they went a little down hill. I have not kept up with stereo electronics so excuse my noob question.

I was looking into buying a 4 channel amp for my speakers since I have a Eclipse AVN6600 now, so I am piecing together my stereo system. I know that JL Audio seems to be the fav around here, but how does this amp compare to the 300/4?

http://www.precisionpower.com/amps/a600-4.asp

Are there other quality amps out there in the 200-250 price range?

thanks for your help!

Does it have to be new? I bought some used PPI amps (the chrome ones that are pre-DEI) and they haven't skipped a beat. Total spent was $350. And from looking at the specs from the link you provided, my PC4400 is the same as that one and I spent $170 for it.

If you're gonna get used amps, you do have to be a bit more careful and buy from someone reputable, but these amps are usually bulletproof. Old school PPI, Xtant, Soundstream, Orion, and even the older MTX and RF Punch never died if they were played within their specs.

I had an old PPI and it was awesome. I think it was a PPI-1150, solid as all hell and pre DEI i believe. I never had any problems with it running hot or anything like that.

Well, it looks like pre DEI, they were popular, so think I will give these new ones a try since I doubt there are many that are using them post DEI.
