Magellan Roadmate 760 Mounting

So I went ahead and bought a (now) inexpensive Magellan Roadmate 760 GPS system and am having some issues mounting it where I would like to. I want to put in in the cubby hole where the stock nav system fits. The problem is I cannot secure it in the cubby hole, and the reception is pretty terrible if the antenna is not up and the cover to the cubby hole is on top of it. I do not particularily want to buy an external antenna. I was going to try and remove the cover, but I did not want to break the plastic. Does anyone have any ideas on how to mount a roadmate 760 in the cubby hole so it doesn't block the view of the other gauges/displays and is secure? Right now I am using the windshield mount that comes with it, but I end up blocking my view of the clock and the driver's side climate control along with some bouncing around while driving. I have a 2004 G35x btw. If anyone has done this with a roadmate 700/760, are there any pictures?
