That is an awsome install. Very clean and I'm sure it sounds absolutely awsome. I am in the process of designing my sound system for my G coupe. I already have an AVIC-D2 and I'm hearing a lot of great things about DLS speakers. Are those special kicks you built for the ultimate UR36's or is it just the sock panels? Have you installed the 6.3 Iridiums in this same location before? I would also like to ask your opinion on subwoofers. I have always run JL but now I am seeing a lot of people going with other choices. How do you think JL subs compare to DLS or the subs you installed here?

So i met up w/ B today to take care of some bizness and got a chance to sit inside and listen to this car. Man, whoever the owner is will love it. I'm thinking of switching to a 3way UR's after listening to this. I would go Iridiums but i might have to get a new amp? i dont know. But the midbass was so clean and powerful. Highs were high, nice and sweet. It's weird, the setup for our G's with the mids/tweeters in the kicks work really well. The sound stange was where it needed to be, dashboard level. B so when are u gonna squeeze me in? =)

how much does that amp and component speakers cost?

Also what would you charge for a similar amp rack/mount for a sedan?

amp retails at 700ish, speakres at 800ish, but like i said, i do both of them for a lot less

for the sedan, about hte same as the coupe, but you need to have the right amp (the DLS unit is about hte only one i can think of that would fit there), and it can only be on the driver side, since on the passenger side, there is almost nothing to secure it to... unless i do a full fiberglass amp rack , but that would be siginificantly more...

cost on just building hte rack? 300ish or so...but running hte wires to it is not so fun hehe

So I got my car back on friday. Eveything was great. Loved the way it sounded. Never really had a good sounding system so my opinion on the sound might not mean much but I think it sounds good. I was kind of worried that the idq 10 might not provide enough bass. So far its enough for me. I told bing that i didnt want too much bass and the idq10 provides just enough. Hopefully I won't want mor in the future. As far as dealing with Bing, it was a great experience. I had a few minor quircks about the install but he took care of that immediately without any question. So if you guys plan on using him in the future, he is vey reasonable and fair. In terms of pricing, I got a quote from a few places in LA (competition Soundworks and a shop in san dimas). Comp Sound charged me a whole crap load more (close to 20% more) but san dimas was willing to charge me less than Bing. However, I trust bing more considering that his clientele are g35forum members and all the good reviews that he got. if you guys have any questions let me know.

Nice install.

Bing, have you ever considered drawing up a set of templates for the kicks for the DIYers? Take much of the guess work out of positioning for staging?

with 3 way sets, there is no guess work period, i bascially sink them into the stock kick panel, and then load the back with dampening...etc

for two way sets, just do a tear dropped shape baffle, and i have had great sucess in Gs and Zs coupled with DLS ultimate line of speakers in compeltely offaxis aiming paralell to the stock kick
