'06 Double Din A/C Controller Clarification.
I have read this tutorial on the '04 Double Din Conversion http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=33.
In this guide it looks like the only thing that needs to be soldered to the new controller board is the micro push button switch from the old unit. However, I have seen other posts that mention soldereing the LED as well as the switch. For the 05-06 controller do you need to solder both the LED and the switch or just the switch? Thanks!

If you don't solder the LED and resistor, the Dual button won't light up, but it will still work.
My fat fingers were too clumsy to solder the resistor and LED, so I didn't even bother, but the switch was easy to solder, and it works fine.

I was thinking of buying both the JDM controller, and a spare OEM controller from a junk yard. This way I can use the scrap controller to take the LED, resistor, and button from, do my install of the z-1 with the double din, and keep the radio and old controller intact to just drop back into the car when I sell it in a few years. I was also thinking of maybe just getting the switch, LED and resistor from an electronics parts supplier and using those. They must be generic of the shelf parts. Also, is there any way to bench test if the illumination works on teh modified JDM prior to doing the install if I get a spare controller to scrounge the parts from?
