Holy crap, please help!

Hey all,
I gave my mom a "hard-wire ipod install" for christmas for her 2005 G35 coupe. I managed to make it all the way to the part where you hook everything up, and low and behold I can't get the stereo to work. I unplugged the AAI-NIS2, and plugged the regular cables in as if it were factory, and now the stereo doesn't work! The speakers will beep once when I turn it on, and I can turn the radio on via the steering wheel, but the display doesn't work. The built in navigation works, as I can open the screen, and see the active map.

I just spent an hour searching online, but came up empty. Do the G35's have a factory reset code for when you disconnect the battery? Is there a sequence of buttons I can press to reset it? I searched the forums and saw another thread where the guy couldn't get his display to work, but he ended up having to send it in. Is this the case for me? My dad bought this car used, so I'm not sure if there is a warranty.

Any and all help is appreciated.

im affraid if you set it back up to stock, and it turns on.....you may have screwed something up, double check all connections, but its pretty simple, ive installed my stuff abck there myself, so i know wha it looks like. Its pretty much plug and play harness's so its hard to screw it connections......hard wire, what else besides the pac unit did you install? or was that it? the radio unit is by itself a working unit, what i mean by that is that if something like the display goes dead, the whole unit is dead practically - cant replace just the display.

if it turns on and no display....it seems somehow it got screwed up, and as for a factory reset code - i dont think so, that radio is pretty basic.....

You know, it might be something as easy as a fuse that blew. The beep you hear on startup might be from the navigtion which might be on a different fuse. I am not at home right now, so I don't have access to my shop manual to see the fuse diagram, but give it a shot.

My dad mentioned it might be something as simple as the radio needing to be grounded. I tested the unit while it was kind of hanging out, so is this a possibility? It's still disassembled right now, because shortly after I posted that ^^ I dropped the head anchor screw

Use a screw from one of the lower dash panels on the passenger side. They're all the same and you can get your dash back together now and get a replacement for the other one later.

Talking

Good news everyone (or at least for me).

A) I found the screw. I bought a magnet extender thing from O' Reilly's and managed to locate it on the side of the HVAC in betwee the carpet and some metal. I was this guy -->

B) I figured out why the display wasn't working. I initially thought you had to remove all 10 of the screws that hold the faceplate down on the HVAC, so in the process of doing this I read I wasn't supposed to dettach this. I actually didn't detach it, or so I thought, because I was just letting it via the two wires. What I DIDN'T see was the small display ribbon-cable on the bottom back of the unit. This of course came unplugged when I first reassembled it, thus the display not working. I just disconnected the plate again and fed it in the second time and BAM. The display is working again. I was also this guy after finding this -->

C) My AAI-NIS2 works beautifully on my mom's 2005 G35 coupe!

Thanks to all on the forums for your input!
