Water in door panel/speaker housing
Water in door panel/speaker housing
I had an annoying rattle coming from the driver side door on my coupe, so I opened it up. When I took the panel off, I noticed that there were rust stains trailing down from the screws holding the speaker in. I remove the speaker and look inside the metal frame of the door and see a good amount of water in there. I'm not talking about standing water, but a decent misting as it had rained two days prior. The back of the speaker was soaked.
I then checked the passenger side and it was the same deal. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I've had the coupe for 4 years and no problems with my speakers thus far.

Its normal for water to run down in there, however I would have thought there was a hole of some sort at the bottom so that it coudl run out. Might look at that and see if maybe its clogged. If not, make one. If you are concerened about your speaker, you could try making some type of baffle or run off so that any water that may be coming in goes around the speaker itself.

Are they stock speakers? It is normal for water to be in there, but I don't think its normal to have rust coming from the screws, because they should be painted bolts in painted metal. If aftermarket speakers were installed and they used metal screws then I would understand the rust...
