Kenwood DD nav, xm, bluetooth..this a good deal?

Local stereo shop wants $2200 out the door installed for Kenwood 6019 with nav, xm and bluetooth module.

He will include the DD dash kit and says he can wire it without replacing the AC controller.

This is a reputable shop and I've had good experience with them in the past.

What do you guys think?

shouldnt pay more than $1200 for the kenwood. you can get them for under a grand off here: $693 shipped + $470 for the navigation

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewi...iliate=googadw

the double din is worth $300 that he is including, but if he is reusing the AC than it's only worth $70. Say the bluetooth module is $150 and the xm is say $250?

2200-70-150-250=1730.

So minus the $693 & $470 shipped price since his cost must be around that

He is making $567 off the install not even accounting for what he is making off the modules. so add another $100 for the modules. $667 to install it for you.

THAT is a rip off

Filanj, you still have to account like $800 for the navigation unit that hooks up to the DDX6019. The nav is separate in this case.

If you prebuy all these
$199+$239+$693+$486+$70=$1687

Your cost minus his price gives you his installing price
$2200-$1687= $513

filanj,

Thank you so much for the great info. So he's saving me about $190 on the DD Kit which leaves his install price at $323 for the entire system. I also get the peace of mind that he is the local guy that will take care of me if I have problems. Maybe I should try to get him to knock $100 off?

You're welcome.

Well he is saving you money, but he is also charging you for the AC controller in his pricing. If you purchase everything ahead of time minus the AC controller you will come up with the $1687. If he is reusing your AC controller than you will have no need to purchase an extra one. So, it is still $513 for the install that he is charging you.

Tell him straight up that you can get everything for $1687 shipped to your door. He can either come down in pricing off his total or you can go ahead and purchase everything online and ask him to install it for you still using your oem AC controller.

If he opts for you to purchase everything online and bring it in than ask how much for the install. He should not charge you more than $300. I say $300 since he is reusing your oem AC controller and that will require extra work. If he agrees to $300 for the install or give or take a little bit, then you can haggle with him a little.

He will want you to purchase through him because he will want to make more than $300 off you. If you can agree upon an install price you will be able to take the difference off his price.

So, say he agrees to $300 for the install. His install price as-is is $513. That is $187 that he can knock off his original pricing and will bring you down to $2013 through him.

Just go through everything with him and maybe settle for $2025 or $2050. He should be able to go down more than $100.

Remember that the prices I quoted are what retailers are selling everything for and they are still making money off of it; therefore, so is he. That is why he will want you to purchase through him and will be able to lower the total price down.

You're welcome. I figured I'd help myself by helping you since I'm also looking into the cost for DD units as well. Good luck with the pricing!
