need help transferring audio equipment
before i sold my old car, i removed all my old audio equipment, including deck, eq, boston acoustic pro series 6.5 components, sub, amps, etc...
now what i plan on doing is transferring as much i can back into my g35, everything except for my alpine deck... i want to use the stock bose headunit and replace the speakers with my boston acoustics 6.5 comps thats powered by my alpine mrv-f407 amp, and my subs. I was told that I can do this with a line out convertor which most stereo shops carry for around $20. Has anyone done this yet? I would get my deck put in, but right now i dont have enough money and time to order those double DIN from japan. So this is what I wanted to do. My question if this is possible, will it sound ok? since im using the amps and replacing the factory speakers, etc?

Re: need help transferring audio equipment
I'm in the same boat as you. I have lots of stereo equipment that I pulled from my old truck. I'm leasing my G so I'm not sure if I want to go through the hassle of doing an install. especially one that is this involved. I'm going to assume you have the Bose system. If you don't then the simple answer is yes you can use line-outs. I've done some research on what you need to do if you have Bose. There are some good threads on www.my350z.com about this topic. If you plan on using the cheap $20 line-out converters, you will need to pick up the signal from the speaker level outputs as they come out of the Bose Amp. This really isn't the cleanest signal to go after. If you want a cleaner signal then you need to purchase a special 4 channel line-out converter that can convert the signal as it leaves the Bose headunit. This is a propriatary bose signal and therefore requires a special converter. This converter runs about $150. You may be better off spending a little extra to get the dash kit and A/C controller so that you can just add your aftermarket headunit.
