PAC TR-7 questions
I'm planning an install with the Alpine w200 to include the PAC tr-7 bypass. I've been reading the instructions on how to install the tr-7 but it doesn't really say how it works once installed. I plan to use it with a toggle switch. My question is...When you are ready to watch a dvd, do you then flip the switch on? Can you have it switched on the whole time and when the HU wants the brake inputs, the tr-7 gives it to the HU? Is there any reason to wire in the toggle switch other than to disable the tr-7?
I'm also installing one and this is my understanding. When you try to watch a video the Alpine is looking for 2 signals, 1 from the parking brake and 1 from the foot brake. The TR-7 gives it those signals so it thinks you've done the parking brake, foot brake, parking brake dance.
I can't see any reason to have a toggle though because you can just change the source on the 200 if you want the video picture to go away. I had a toggle on my bypass when I was going to the Nav screen but it was a lot higher up and anyone next to you, and some behind you could see if you were watching a movie.
I'm sure someone here can elaborate a little more or correct me if I'm wrong.
