Ground the wiring harness?

Ground the wiring harness?

Per the instructions for the crutchfield wiring harness (seen here) it says to connect the harness and receiver's ground wires to the chassis. I just clipped the pan connector thing off the harness ground and attached my head unit's ground to it. It all seems to work just fine (aside from forgetting the antenna power. . .BAH!!) so why would it say to ground them elsewhere? Anyone have any ideas? I'm

Grounding to the chasis is the same as attaching to the factory ground wire. I don't know why they say that either.
