JL audio XR vs ZR

Hey guys, what's going on? Im getting around to putting a sound system in my car, but im not putting any subs in the car. I want as much input as possible for these speakers and set up. Basically, im just looking for something that out performs the bose system and sounds crystal clear.

I do have a coupe...

JL audio XR comps 6.5 - Front doors
JL audio XR 6.5 again - Rear quarter panels
JL audio slash series 300x4 AMP

And for the rear deck JL audio doesnt make a 6x9 speaker in the XR or ZR so what would you guys recommend for a 6x9 Speaker that would compete with the XR or ZR?

What do you think of that set up? Will it out perform the bose system and sound pretty damn good?

Also whats the sound difference between the XR series and the ZR series? I see that the ZR are more expensive, but are they truely better?

i have zr's in the front and back...you dont need to fill the 6x9...zr has a larger cross over and the sound imaging is sharper...the xr's are still a good set of speakers...also look at the boston pro 60

If you are not going to do a sub I would consider doing the 6" subs in the rear.

My Focal K2's are the best components I have ever had.

I cant find a shop that actually has them installed, so i cant listen to them.

As for the 6 inch sub? Arnt the XRs a sub because they come with a 6 inch "woofer looking" speaker and then a tweater and a crossover to make sure no bass goes to the tweater...The tweater isnt part of the 6 inch speaker its seperate...

I have the 650s in my coupe, front and rear with the 300/4 pushing them. They will outperform the Bose by far. I wouldn't even compare the two. I can't comment on how well the 650s will act solely as subs (20-80hz) instead of mids because I haven't had mine setup that way.

The best all-around system for the coupe seems to be to replace the fronts, get rid of the rears and 6x9, and put 1 small sub (10") in the trunk.

I went with the sub and replaced my rears because I have my kids back there a lot and I can put music on for them and fade it to the rears so we don't have to hear it up front.

If you don't have rear pax too often and don't plan on setting up a 5.1 system I would just replace the fronts and get a 10" with the 4080 box. The price will be about the same as replacing the fronts, rears, and 6x9s.
