Hey guys,

I'm thinking about putting a new head unit in my G, probably the Eclipse AVN 5500 or 2454. Are there conversion kits for installing this in my dash in place of the stock cd player? what's the easiest way to go about installing this thing, if possible?

you gotta get the skyline dash, which goes for anywhere $200-$300...labor for installing that dash is about $800-$1000 (most places told me around a grand for that installation, but my cousin said if I send anyone to him, he'll do it for $600...and oh, he's the assistant sales manager and head installer for a Car Toys)...and then all you gotta do is buy the rest of the equipment and pay for installations for them head unit and speakers...

I'm in Houston, TX...where are you at? If you need installation or anything, and you're willing to come down to Houston, I can get you hooked up...

 

oh yeah, I almost forgot, you also need to get a new A/C controller too...so total in parts just to change out the dash is about $500-$600...

 

A GRAND for that installing the headunit and the Dash kit? OMFG. Someone is seriously getting **** raped. I got quoted $300 to install the headunit only but luckily I found Simplicity in Sounds that gave me an offer that no business can even come close to for the awesome quality and care they gave.

You only need the A/C controller: $200ish and Finisher: $85ish. You can reuse your old metal bracket for double din unit.

 

i'm in houston too, but my buddy and I will probably change it out ourselves. we are currently restoring a 65 mustang so i think we can handle this. the speakers aren't an issue for installation either. thanks for the help though

I'm not sure how much, but that's about the quotes I've gotten from a few people...

if you're in Houston, goto an Infiniti dealership and they will tell you everything you need and they can order the parts for you too...but, you're probably gonna pay a premium if you're gonna get JDM parts from a dealership...

 

the dealership would be way more expensive...i'd stick to getting them off of this website or other links from different threads. shouldn't cost anymore than 300 and any competent person can do the install.

 

it's the soldering for the A/C that is very tricky...if you are off or do it wrong, you can zap the main board to your car...yes, to your entire car...make sure you get the correct instructions and work with someone who knows it well...the cost of fixing your car after you've done that is more for the insurance to handle than you paying outta pocket...

 

you shouldn't have to be soldering anything on your A/C control. it's a simple plug and play setup.

 

well, my car has the dual zone A/C...and the JDM doesn't have a button for it nor is it wired for dual zone....so you'd have to take it out of the other one and install it and rewire the controller, otherwise your A/C will not work...if you don't have the dual zone A/C, then you're safe...egh, I guess I was just speaking of my car's installation...so I guess if you don't have the premium package, then you're safe...yup...
