AVIC-D3 vs AVH-P6800DVD

Which one would you choose and why?
Head UNit budget: $1,000.00USD

Pioneer AVIC-D3:

Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD:

Other:

If you can think of another DoubleDin style receiver under a $1k that you would buy, post it up with a link to where you can purchase it under $1k.

Navi is not necessary. I already have it.

not really a fan of the button placements on the avic..but it looks like the avic is more navigation oriented whereas the avh isnt because you have to spend more money to get the addon. Also, the avic has a smaller screen (almost an inch smaller) and has no cd changer. AVH FTW!!!!!!!!

i didnt notice u said u already had the nav, so that alone should take away the avic because 2 navs is not cool at all. U can also look into the kenwood excelons like the 8019.. around the same price range.

Yeah. Pretty much depends if you want nav or not. If you do then I wouldn't even recommend the D3. The maps are run off dvds and theres only one slot. Meaning you can't really use the nav and play a cd. It stores some paths if you take the map dvd out, but thats just a pain.

Yea I don't know what Pioneer was thinking with the D3. Why didn't they just use dual slots like they did with the D1 and D2?

So the D3 is pretty much useless? The D2 was better?

IMO In all my research that I did when I was in the market for a DD here is what I came up with

1. I'd go with any Kenwood double-din (DDX6019, DDX8019)
and add KNA-G510 (navigation powered by garmin) NO disks required, updateable by a simple memory card and easier to add skins etc. Good quality. (google those two model numbers or even ebay them and you will find them for less than $1000 if not a tab bit over)

2. Pioneer AVIC-Z1 I think is worth the $$$, I know you said less than $1000 but trust me it's worth saving and getting. But you can also go with Pioneer AVIC-D3, I love Pioneer navigation, it's detailed, better features like the (phone number search feature) I'd go with either option 1 or this one.

3. Stay away from Eclipse, that's what I have and I regret my decision every day!

IMO Alpine IVA-W205 because I love their screen quality and how sharp they look. But reasearch them on crutchfield.com that site will give you lots of info.
But you can't go wrong with Pioneer either (same price as the alpine you get navi)

i checked up on it at that site and supposedly it wont fit in the car

is that because they arent factoring in the double din conversion?

this one motorizes and sticks out, if i get the double din conversion how do i make it look like everyone elses on the forum where its just in the dash

maybe its just my opinion that it looks better, looks less aftermarket and more luxury
