Wiring 3rd brake light

Tomorrow i am switching my 2004 trunk with a spoiler for a truck without a spoiler. Changing the trucks is pretty straight forward but i dont know what to do about the wiring. Right now the wires are coming out into the truck and i do not know what each colour wire does. Can anyone tell me the function of each of the colored wires?
and how to install the 3rd brake light under my rear window from inside the car? do i just cut the wires and tape them back together to the new 3rd brake light? and do i disconnect my battery b4 doing so? or is there another way?

Please help so that i do not screw up my G35!!

Thank you.

First off it's "brake".

The 3rd brake light wires (on the sedan) are almost right under the light. You can just test them with a meter or test light and wire the light up.

Thanks for the correction teach!

So what you are telling me is to just do what? test my light? Im sure I can go upon to do just that but which wire does what? there is a black, blue, green and red wire ( i need to double check the colours). One must be for my trunk to open, one must be for the brake light, one might be a ground and the other I have no idea!

I will be removing my 3rd light from my trunk and will be placing a new 3rd light inside my car under the rear window. Now this will require a new path for the wires. Some wire might stay in the trunk and other wires will be on the new path inside the car and small holes will have to be created to install the new light.

Any ideas on this before I dive into this project tomorrow? Im am just trying to gather as much information before hand.

Thanks

I have succesfully swapped trucks!! it was so easy. There was no need for re wiring anythign and i did not have to make a new path for existing wires. The car is built with harness for a third break light under the back window and one for the spoiler. Its a plug and play when swaping trunks!!! the only thing is that need to cut a hole in the back to get access to the wires underneath and they were already there adn the 3rd light covers the holes.
