I been looking into this myself...I would estimate from my research it would come out to more than 3k total for the double din set up.....but it could be lower depending on the actual head unit u decide to go with.

double din kits run around $300-$400 for the bracket and climate control unit. head units depending on whether they have nav or not run anywhere between $600-$1400. i would assume installation should run around $200.

My first one was an Eclipse AVN 5495 (msrp $3,000) and DD. I paid $1,900 for both and did the install myself. Then I changed to the AVN 6600 and was able to sell my 5495 for what I paid for the 6600.

Yea, it quite possibly could be lower.....I was estimating the 3k for what "I" wanted such as ipod integration, bluetooth, rear view camera and other niffty little gizmo's. But like I also stated, "could be lower". It all depends on what you want personally. =]

You can find HU on ebay for pretty cheap, the only problem with that is they are not authorized dealers so if anything goes wrong, you are SOL. You can get a Kenwood DDX8019 which has a good ipod interface and bluetooth capable for about $800 on ebay. Retail is about $1450. You can install it yourself, you really don't need many tools other than a couple screw drivers, trim pry tool (or flat screw driver wrapped with a soft cloth) and a wire stripper/crimper. You will need a soldering iron if you want to keep the dual climate control function. You can find the DIY on this board and should take you a couple of hours to do it. It may seew overwhelming, but if you can follow directions, it is rather simple.

a good shop might charge you a little more then 200... that is if you want to retain dual climate controls and have it light up, using an oem piece... the Metra Kit might have those buttons but there is a good chance that they don't feel as nice as the jdm ones...

there is a diy on this board to switch over the button for dual mode onto the new climate control.

Exclamation Average price for a DD and HU

For my 03 Sedan and if I do it myself:

Cheap option:

1. Metra or Turbo DD kit 99-7604 with harness for around $200
2. Avic D3 - The cheapest you can find is around $700

Better alternative:

1. JDM DD and AC controller ($350)
2. Avic D3

Anything else to add????

Don't forget the PAC steering wheel control and the antenna and wire harness adapters.
