Aftermarket Navi

I was wondering if anyone had installed an aftermarket navi system yet? If so what kind and where did you mount the display? Have been looking at the Alpine and am trying to figure out how to mount the dispaly in the cubby hole and still retain the cover...so I could raise the cover and have the screen come up...possibly install the display mount to the bottom side of the cover. I'm open to suggestions.

Re: Aftermarket Navi

Also interested in an aftermarket navi. I would like the ability to play DVD movies at the current time so the factory navi is not something I'm interested in at the moment. Just out of curiousity, the 2nd glove compartment (if you will) is still available even if you dont select the navi package, right?

Re: Aftermarket Navi

You have a second glove compartment if you don't have the Nav. If you do have the Nav, opening the second glove compartment reveals the DVD drive for the Nav system -- it takes up the whole thing.

Thanks for the response.

So in the second glove compartment - I can put in my aftermarket DVD drive in this area if I want to? (With some extra room on the sides/top i'd imagine)

Re: Aftermarket Navi

Pioneer nav is the only way to go if you want to play DVD movies. I was thinking about it but then the prices on ebay went straight up. I was thinking about the Pioneer nav with the Pioneer 6.5" LCD screen. IT fits nicely but not retractable. SOmeone on Freshalloy did this: http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...=&fpart=1&vc=1

Any other ways about doing this? I'm leaning towards the pioneer system.. however not sure how it can fit in the cubby
