Most economical way to improve sound...

This might have been covered before... I have the bose system, and I have to say I'm not very pleased with the sound. It sounds kinda muffled and not very clear, like it's missing a lot of highs. Is the easiest way to improve the sound to replace the door speakers? Also, what are good? I'm not going to upgrade the HU any time soon but wanted a good quick solution to this.

You see, the problem is the Bose speakers suck as does the Bose amplifier. You will most likely have to replace both of these if you want any decent sound out of your system if you do not plan on upgrading your HU. You could upgrade the HU and keep the factory speakers, while bypassing the factory amp. This would most likely give you the best bang for the buck.

Next time you're in your car, turn treble all the way up and put bass at +2 or higher. Leave the settings here when you turn off your car. Next time you start your car up, adjust treble down one notch, then back up to max. Then adjust bass down one notch, then back up. It should sound less muffled afterwards.

Don't ask how I know this, I've just found that this works in my car...
