Satellite Radio.
Satellite Radio.
I tryed to Get the XM Satelite radio option. The dealer recommended against it due to the "uncertain future of Satelite radio". I still wanted it so the salesperson went to check on the details of the instalation and came back saying Infinity does not offer it any more. Has anyone heard different.

Re: Satellite Radio.
I purchased a 2003 G35 in Jan. and was told the Satellite feature worked by my sales person. I had the XM equipment from my previous car and loved the service. I was told all I needed to do was have the antenna installed and change my service to this vehicle. This was a feature that really sold me on the vehicle. I didn't want the bulky receiver, plus there is no place to put it.
After a lot of runaround and confusion by both sales staff and service staff, I finally discovered yesterday via Infiniti Consumer Relations that the Satellite button feature will never work in my vehicle and that it is being discontinued until the factory figures out a way to make the system work. (My feature will never work apparently because the installation of some device must take place at the factory, not the dealer, or Tweeter's, etc.) Needless to say, I'm very pissed and considering several options. I can't believe they have the feature and marketed the vehicle without testing it to make sure it works. I love my car but desparately want the feature to work.

Re: Satellite Radio.
Latest word I get is that G's manufactured after March 20 will have the harness installed at the factory. They had planned to offer the hookup as a port installed option but it's a hella lot of work and complicated. (Required R&R of a lot of stuff). Not too sure about retro for current owners but someone said August for availability. I have XM in my work truck but would really like to have a "cleaner" install in the G. I think I'll wait and hope Infiniti figures it out. Let'em know we want it and maybe they'll get it done.
Re: Satellite Radio.
It is already wired- This site has the install diagrams-

Hope this helps- I just can't get myself to have that bulbous antenna on the top of my beautiful baby-

Re: Satellite Radio.
I just got a new G35 Sedan yesterday. I asked the dealer about satellite, which he checked on. They (don't know who "they" were) checked on it and said it would be available as a dealer-installed option at the end of April. Don't know about the price.
Re: Satellite Radio.
I am preparing to install the Kenwood KTC-SR901 Sirius tuner in my G, connecting it to my Kenwood 911DVD/TV tuner. I'm going to paint the antenna to match my Desert Platinum Sedan. Ordered some custom matched spray paint guaranteed to match the factory colors. (29.95 a can)

I have installed the Kenwood in my G and it is trick. The antenna is between the speakers on the rear deck. If you do have navigation the absolute best location for the control head is in the nav compartment. When you raise the door for the nav there is a flat area facing directly towards the rear. I attached my control head on this flat area with two sided tape that is made for installing body side molding. It won't let loose. LOVE MY Sirius Radio. When you close the nav door the satellite radio hides, and when you open the door it is facing directly toward the rear of the car and all controls are easily accessible.
