They are cheap rubber. I bought one for $169 and then sold it once it arrived. It is worth it to get the Infiniti one for $260 to have a true OEM look.

I think the fit looks better for the DD. With the "OEM" kit there is a small gap between the DD units and the G's Facia, from the closeup shot provided it looks to not be there in this kit. Could you perhaps use the controller from the OEM kit and the facia from this kit?

No, I tried it. The Climate Controls are connected to the face of the radio and is one solid piece. Now, you could buy the controls that are meant for the OEM kit and use it on the Metra, but the price will be much higher. I think the OEM actual kit is around $100 and the controls are like $149. So add that $149 to the $169 for the Metra kit and you get a $300+ price.

I'm not sure if I made myself clear. Do you think you can use the plastic covers from the Metra kit and the AC Controller from the Japan OEM Kit?

That is what I was talking about at the end of the last post. The price for the OEM controller is around $149. The metra kit is around $169. So going by those prices, you will be paying $318 for them together. The OEM kit with controller is around $269 from retailers. I have seen them for $200 used and up to $250 new on Ebay. Also, in my 03, the color of the Metra did not perfectly match. It was a shade off.

The amp for the speakers.. u didn't have to do any rewiring correct? Since the wires run to the factory amp from the HU and then to the speakers. Did u just grab the signal coming from the hu to the amp then to the speakers.. using factory wires?

[QUOTE=jedmonds]I just installed it in my car. My 6 disc changer went out on me. Infiniti wanted $650 to send it out for repair. Ended up doing some research and replace the whole thing. I am very happy with the new setup.

Ooooooh, I want one.

Do your steering wheel controls work? Did you need an adapter?

You always need a steering wheel control interface when adding an aftermarker HU to a G. check out www.pac-audio.com You will need the one for whatever HU you get.

I would like to see pics of the single din one. I would be willing to bet that the stock Bose amp sounds pretty damn nice when connected to a decent aftermarket HU. The difference was amazing in my Jetta GLI when I swapped out the stock HU for a Alpine HU.

I have a willow interior. Do Metra DD kits make those in those color? Does the JDM finishers have them in willow as well? Most of the ones I see on here are silver interior finish and I want my colors to match when I replace my stock head unit.

I've always wondered. from Stock HU to Aftermarket HU if it does make a significant difference? Because I have recently installed my woofer and amp. It bangs hard but not as I thought. (1 RockFord Fosgate T2 10in) So if I buy a DD HU it will increase the deepness and bass sound? If so which DD Model/Brand is great for the equalizing. Im more into quality be able to hear the voice and bass. Always open-eared to suggestions.
