Factory XM Install Probs...

Hey all.

I recently took the plunge and installed the factory XM tuner after my SkyFi crapped out. My car was not prewired so I had to run the harness from the trunk to the dash, but that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've got everything plugged in, but I still get 'NO SAT' when I push the SAT button. I made sure everything was tight, but nothing seems to fix the problem. I had no instructions, butr everything was pretty self explanitory. The only doubt I really have is the ground wire. MY kit didn't include one and I wouldn't have known it was needed if it wern't for these forums. I used some speaker wire and ran it from one of the threaded holes on the XM unit to a sanded threaded bolt on the cars body. Still no joy. I am currently stationed overseas so I can't get help from a dealer so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I had to wire my Nav too. I went with Sirius, but the install would be exactly the same. Make sure your connector to the back of the HU and to the Sat in the truck is completely tight. That alone should get the Sat button to work.

Thanks for your help. I made sure the connection in the trunk was good. I will have to take apart the dash to make sure the one in front in good. I put it in pretty tight while installing, but I will check agan. I think maybe the XM tuner is bad.

Thanks again.

Did you open the account with XM??? They need the radio ID number so the satellite can find the receiver. Took mine about 8 - 10 hours before it worked.

I don't belive it's a signal problem as the display would say 'Loading' or 'No Signal' or something to that affect. 'NO SAT' means no tuner is found which is my problem.
