I'm lost, please help with wiring Avic-D3

Hi All:

I'm lost. I connected the basic wires (red/yellow/black) from the D3 to the metra 70-7551 wiring harness. The harnesses have 2 pairs of RCA for front and rear speakers.

Questions:

1. Am I to connect the D3's RCA to the metra's RCA ?

2. What do I connect the Blue/White (Amp turn on) and Black/White(Amp ground) from the metra radio harness to?

3. Also, can I connect the D3 ground (black) to the radio harness ground instead of the vehicle metal body?

Thanks....

Just got my D3 installed yesterday. I started the install and originally planned to do it myself, but time and frustration got the best of me and I caved in and had a local car stereo shop take care of it. They did a great job and I am officially stoked. Love it.

Someone must have done this before. I just need to know how to connect the RCA cables.

Did I do it right?

Here's some answers....
1. Am I to connect the D3's RCA to the metra's RCA ?
YES
Metra Front RCA white plugs into D3 Front RCA white
Metra Front RCA black plugs into D3 Front RCA red
Metra Rear RCA light green plugs into D3 Front RCA white
Metra Rear RCA purple plugs into D3 Front RCA red

2. What do I connect the Blue/White (Amp turn on) and Black/White(Amp ground) from the metra radio harness to?
Metra Blue/white amp turn on connect it to the D3 amp turn on wire.
Metra Black/White amp ground, connect it to the ground wire of the metra and ground wire of the D3

3. Also, can I connect the D3 ground (black) to the radio harness ground instead of the vehicle metal body?
YES

Also, don't forget to bypass the D3 so you can use your navi, and watch dvd's while driving

Endleesses:

Thank you. This is exactly what I did. I have everything wired and ready to be put in this weekend.

I should point out that the D3 blue/white wire is labeled "remote control" but it could be used for AMP ON.

All I need now is to find out a good location for the GPS antenna, the reverse signal wire....

Thumbs up

I did it. It took me most the day to do but everything work including video bypass except for the clock light bulbs (This is a common problem but I found it out after the installation. I recommend that you unplug the clock unit during installation to avoid this problem).

Here is a list of hardware needed:

1. Pioneer AVIC-D3 (Nav/Dvd,etc)
2. PAC-SWIPS (For power steering control)
3. Metra dash kit 90-7604
4. Metra radio harness 70-7551

The Metra dash kit looks pretty good. Even the buttons are not as bad as people think. The most difficult thing for me was to squeeze all the wires in the tight compartment behind the head unit...

Will post pictures when I have them....

Did you get to use the steering wheel radio controls with the new AVIC-D3?

Can you post a picture of how it looks finished? I'm kind of curious to see how the fit and finish is on the kit.

ehhh i'm really not diggin the AC control buttons on there. Did that come with the kit? I think I saw a kit that had the same style buttons as stock but it was like $300. Other than that, it looks awesome in there. Can't wait to do mine.

k i found the kit I had seen w/the JDM HVAC controls. All the parts come separately: http://www.grubbsperformance.com/c/G...CoupeDash.html

Two questions, Whats the difference between the double dinn bracket w/o navigation and the one w/navigation? Also, are these brackets necessary? Or can you use the brackets that come with the HU?
