Thumbs up Avic-D3 installed in my 03 G35 Sedan

I did it. It took me most the day to do but everything work including video bypass except for the clock light bulbs (This is a common problem but I found it out after the installation. I recommend that you unplug the clock unit during installation to avoid this problem).

Here is a list of hardware needed:

1. Pioneer AVIC-D3 (Nav/Dvd,etc)
2. PAC-SWIPS (For power steering control)
3. Metra dash kit 90-7604
4. Metra radio harness 70-7551

The Metra dash kit looks pretty good. Even the buttons are not as bad as people think. The most difficult thing for me was to squeeze all the wires in the tight compartment behind the head unit...

Will post pictures when I have them....

I started at 7am and finnished around 3pm. Lunch break included. The hardest part was to cramp all that cables in the back of the unit. You may need a second person for this.

nice work... Smae here man, I started 8am finished around 3, breakfast and 1hour break... It took so long because I couldn't figure out VSS wire color, and the PAC swips was just kicking my tail.. I gave on the PAC and called it a day.. It sounds A LOT NICER than the bose, I had premium bose and I only replaced the HU.. I can actually hear the tweeters now.

I mounted the GPS antenna on top of the pocket (from the inside). The reception is pretty good.

As for the VSS. I believe it's the light green/white wire (pin 18) of the M39 plug. I'll check my note again tonight.

You don't need to worry about the reverse wire if you don't plan to install a rear camera.

Correction. It's the white/green not green/white (pin 18) of the M39 plug.

Also, if you still need to know the backup signal wire. It's the Yellow wire (pin 6) of the M40 plug. You don't need to run your wire to the back.

Sorry, mistake again. The reverse signal is the Orange wire (pin 11) of the M57 plug.

ThAnks, I guessed which which it was but I can remember.... Which one I chose. I have done some distance runs to check the acuracy of the system and so far so good. I love this thing my system is HOT now (compared to the Bose HU)
