Hey guys.

On my RDS enabled Bose stereo system ('03 G35 sedan), my stereo only shows the last 8 letters of a word. I live in Southern California. For example, if I'm listening to a radio station, the RDS feature would show "ISTENING" instead of "LISTENIN" and then "ISTENING". I hope I'm making sense. On the loaner FX I got that is what I saw. The FX stereo would show the first 8 letters followed by the last 8 letters when the word is longer than 8 letters. On my G35 it always shows the last 8 letters (word longer than 8 letters). The dealer told me that this has been fixed on the '04 G35 models. Is anyone else getting the same thing? Please comment on this. Thanks.

 

Must've been fixed on the 03.5s, because I see the first 8 letters [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img] I like our FX because it shows the full name of the song and artist even on burned CDs.

I have a 04 coupe and it shows the full name and title of the song that is being played.

i got my 03 in nov 2002, so i have the same problem. titles and artists get chopped

 

Thanks for the reply guys. I just wanted to be sure that the dealer was giving me correct information. Guess he was telling me the truth after all.

 

I'm to tired to try it, but i believe pushing one of the buttons allows you to toggle between different display modes......

What exctly is the RDS? I have the 04 and it shows up perfectly but only on certain radio stations. How do you program the CD player to show the information as well? (The ID tags? How?)

The broadcaster has to transmit something! Many do, many don't.

This is a different protocol, and the G35 head unit does not support it.

goin to have to try this rds thing i never knew what it did or was for
maybe you can help me out with this one as well

You can scroll between aritst/title/album/XM station/etc. with the middle button of the three on RDS or Sat stations. And our CD players don't read text-- only the FX [img]/w3timages/icons/frown.gif[/img]

For a $1200 dollar system, you'd think Bose could make a headunit with CD Text and / or MP3 capabilitiy huh? They could have added a firewire port too, so we could plug our iPods into the system...
