Is there such a beast?

Is there anything I can purchase for my 2003 G35 that is
a combo - HU/CD Player/Satellite Radio/GPS all in one?

Almost all DD HU's do what you want and offer DVD playing capabilities too. At least check out www.crutchfield.com then go to your local audio shops to get some hands on experience to find the one you want.

Do you know if Best Buy can install one of these bad boys?
Or is that asking too much from Best Buy?
I really don't want to lose my a/c in the process.
It seems removing the stock HU will require rerouting a/c controls, etc.

Also, my "2003" G35 apparently was not wired for Sat Radio so
it has to be wired also.
Is this something that can be installed unobtrusively so all
wires/cables are hidden away. I talked to me dealer a while
ago and they said I would have a problem tucking everything away so
it wasn't visible but not sure exactly what they meant.

Not trying to hijack your thread jtsiimikas, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Avic-D1. If so, what is your opinion of the Avic-D1?

You need the JDM trim piece and AC controller to do the conversion. Best Buy may be willing to do it for you.

If you get a DD HU, you don't need to worry about being prewired for satellite radio. You wouldn't use any of the OEM equipment anyway.

Thanks for the response.

I just went to Best Buy during lunch and they are willing to do the work.

They sell the Pioneer AVIC-D3 for $999 which they tell me is
latest/greatest.

They said I need to buy the kits required but they would do
the installation.

ps. They are estimating $250 for labor... which seems a little steep.

Can someone provide me info on where to purchase the kits.
Thanks

PM Tony or Jason@Riversideinfiniti, you need the dash kit and AC Controller which will run you around $300 bucks, the reason you need a new AC Controller is that the existing one is on the same circuit board as the stock Head Unit so you can't use it. A lot of people have done the installation themselves, there is a couple of good DIYs, I'll dig up the links for you if you can't find them

I wouldn't consider the D3 the "latest & greatest". But it will do everything you are looking for. Also, $999, is way overpriced..you may want to shop around or buy one online, I have seen them as low as $682.08+shipping. If you have the funds, you may want to pick up a Z2 though, it is a better unit, just read up on it. $250 is a little high and I doubt they will solder the Dual button for you. You may just want to find a reputable place other than best buy to do the install.

If they said $250, they MAY not know what they are getting into. Make sure they have done this before or go to a specialty audio shop that HAS! You don't want a botched job that rattles and works half the time.

^^+1 on going to a shop that knows what they're doing. but as far as price, it is hard to judge. I got mine done for $160 with the soldering too, and install was very clean.

I didn't realize the D3 doesn't have a hard disk. This is kind of
unfortunate.. but you can plug an IPOD into it which basically
achieves what I am looking to do, so its not a bad option.

I will have to find about the dual-climate control.

I called another shop, and they tell me they can special
order a kit (just 1 kit) and can also set up the steering wheel controls.

Price not determined yet....

make sure if they are ordering the dash kit for you, that it is the JDM version, and not some cheap aftermarket one. if they can't get that one, just order it yourself.
