Illumination wire help

Guys, so I installed the AVIC-D3 in my 2007 coupe with the bose system and am stull doing a bit of work on it. I am getting some alternator wine etc, so I am trying to ground it better.

But that is not my question, I noticed when I took it out that the orange illumination wire from the avic is connected to the orange illumination wire on the metra harness (metra 70-7551). However, on the original car harness that the metra is plugged into, there is no wire coming out the other side, so I think that the illumination wire is essentially going to nothing at all.

So where is the illumination wire supposed to be then? It must be located on another harness. Maybe the one that the steering wheel controls and speed control sensor wire can be found? Please help. It is not a really big deal, but it would be nice if we could have some dimming features with this thing at night without having to manually go into the settings on the headunit and adjust the brightness and all.

Thanks guys.

Doesn't the AVIC-D3 come with it's own dimmer option located in the tools menu?

yeah, it does, but I am saying that it would be nice if like when your headlights turn on, it would automatically dim like a factory radio and all of our gauges do so that the screen would not be so bright at night. I am assuming that this is what the illumination wire would do if there was a line that we could tap into.

This way you do not have to go into the menu on the avic to dim it. It would do it on its own by sensing that the headlights are on.

on the 07 factory harness; red/blue = positive illumination. and red/yellow = negative illumination. the D3 will only accept the positive if i remember correctly.. il go check to be sure in a bit
