iphone and my G
I am looking into purchasing a double din unit. Are there any out there that i can connect my iphone to? I want a unit that is compatible with my iphone so i can have hands free and also access to all my music. Any ideas on which route to go?
Any head unit that is bluetooth capable, whether it be built-in or as an add-on, will work with the iPhone. And there are a number of units out there that are bluetooth capable. The Alpine units like the IVA-W205(around $700) are bluetooth enabled and with the addition of an add-on box, you can view all your missed calls, caller id, phone book, and stream your music audio, all on the screen. You don't need to touch your phone really for anything once you are parred.....you can even dial the number right from the head unit. In fact almost all of the Alpine units are bluetooth capable except for a few of their cheapest models. Pioneer, Kenwood, Clarion, and a few others also have almost their entire line of headunits bluetooth capable, and have similar, if not the same, functions as the Alpine units. The Pioneer AVIC-D3($700) is a popular unit that can do what you want it to do with your iPhone. My vote is on the Alpine IVA-W205 though. Don't know how fancy you want to get with your headunit, but you can expect to spend around the $700 starting mark for a good quality double-din unit, or you can spend alot for a full multimedia double-din unit($2000), and in either case, they will do what you want it to do. So it really depends on what else you are looking for in a headunit and how much you are willing to spend. The Pioneer AVIC-Z2($2000) is the top-of-the-line model that does it all.
But really, there are so many choices out there that will easily meet your requirements, and really it will come down to your own personal preference, but try to stay with the name-brand stuff, from repuitable manufacters. Just make sure that it in fact does have a bluetooth option when you are looking, and you'll be set. Hope that helps.
